Eastern Veterans' Wives Group Page

Veterans wives/partners make up a large part of the membership of the Outer Eastern Melbourne Sub-Branch.

We know by the numbers attending the various women's activities as well as the other functions, events, outings, etc that women support, value and enjoy their membership in the Eastern Veterans Wives Gruop.

The popular monthly "WivesTea" is a good example of the inclusiveness and comradery of the Wives Group.

The Eastern Veteran's Wives' Group, co-ordinated by Judy McQuillan and operates separately/independently of OEM. It is a welcoming, inclusive and fun group to be with. The Group meets once a month for a meal, mingle and chat.

These events are popular and always well attended. For the monthly evening meal at the Ferntree Gully Hotel husbands are relegated to the far off mens' table leaving the "wives" free to enjoy what wives like to do.

Other activities undertaken by the Wives Group include a number of excursions and various other events during the year. A number of the wives are also "carers" and participate in a gym program.

 

Crafty Women

Crafty Women meet each month for a few hours at the Boronia RSL for a chat, laugh and support.

The focus for the group is on craft matters but if you are not crafty and would prefer to just come and have a chat and a cuppa, you would be most welcome. Most women bring along some form of craft and participate in some of the projects we undertake. These include Remembrance Day wreaths, items to sell at fundraisers, Christmas decorations and so on.
